Dear friends,
Doug and I have received some devastating news today. Two men that work with us in Turkey (along with another man) were brutally murdered for their association with our company doing bible distribution. Obviously this is extremely difficult for us and for our fellow workers in country. Doug was en route to another country and was able to re-route to be in Turkey tonight to help with the crisis management.
Please pray for the wife and two small children of one of the men. Pray that God will comfort her and help our staff and other believers be her comforters. Pray for eyes of faith to see God in the midst of the tragedy that is now her life. Pray for wisdom, discernment and gentleness to share this news with her small children (5 and 7). Pray as God leads you...
Pray for our other staff. Pray that God would give them a spirit of peace. Pray that they would experience God's comfort and peace in a way they never have before. Pray against the fear that should so naturally follow such a violent attack. Pray that God would use these deaths to bring many Turks into a relationship with God who loves them.
Pray for Doug as he leads the Turkish team in these next few chaotic days. Pray for wisdom, discernment, order. It has been difficult to get right information. We are thankful that he could so quickly get there to minister to our hurting staff.
Pray for protection for all involved. We are very mindful that our enemy is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness. The enemy seeks to destroy--we have a sense that this may be the beginning of more martyrs in our area.
We are thankful that you stand in the gap with us and appreciate your prayers.
Love, Karen
