Another prayer request - this is Pat's daughter Sheri and Greg is her husband, they have 6 children. Sheri's husband is being deployed to Afghanistan in March. They are in that blizzard area in Kansas and have been hit pretty hard. From Sheri:
This area was hit hard by ice. The owner of the cabin said it was the worst ice storm here in about 20 years. They turned our power off for about 9 hours yesterday so that they could clear the lines somewhere else. Without electric we had no heat or water. We were relieved when they turned it back on! The base was hit very badly. Parts of it are still without power. Greg was without heat for about 36 hours. Some of the towns near by are being told that they may not have power until the beginning of January. They still haven't cleared a lot of the ice and they are predicting snow on top of everything tonight.
The sun does come out between storms here, so at least the ice melts off of the roads. We were able to go onto the base yesterday and spend about an hour with Greg. That was the first chance we had to see him since we left OK Sunday. Unless plans change (which they can). He thinks he will be able to come to the cabin lunch time Saturday until Sunday evening. He is also being told that he will have 4 days off at Christmas and another 4 off for New Years (without being charged vacation time).
