It was a weekend full of answered prayer for little Cassie. She is finally in a crib, and the tube down her throat for breathing has been removed. She is on a nasal cannula for oxygen. Her MMA count was 511 on Friday. They did not draw blood over the weekend to give time for her blood to build. Roy and Robyn are waiting for the results from today's tests. Her white count is up to 7.9. Her platelets are at 120 (normal range is between 140 and 220). All in all, the doctors are very pleased with her progress. She is down to 5 things attached to her little body and two of those are saline (a "just in case"). They are going to give her an MRI sometime today and are thinking they will be able to do some determination about brain damage at some point soon. They will begin trying to feed her by mouth with a special formula some time later this afternoon or evening. Cassie may need to re-learn how to suckle. But she seems to be doing okay with a pacifier.
What an awesome God we serve. Worthy of our praise. One big praise for me at this time, is that the doctors are saying it may be anywhere from 2 - 6 weeks for Cassie to be ready to "go home". How awesome . . . "going home". We weren't even sure she would be around to "go home" such a short time ago. God is so good.
Roy and Robyn have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of cards they have received for Cassie. It's amazing how far reaching prayer for little Cassie has been. Please continue in prayer for this little one. Your prayers are still coveted on her behalf. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ~ Bev
