Praise Report on Allen

The good news continues.  Yesterday Allen had an innovative procedure done on his eyelid so that he can open one eye to see again.  He is speaking more clearly every day.  In fact, last night the surgeon asked him how he was doing, and he clearly said, "I'm hungry and thirsty."  So this moring, they tried giving him some food by mouth for the first time.  This is another huge milestone which will eventually lead to removal of the feeding tube, the only remaining life support that he is receiving.

Also, the discharge planner has secured a spot for him in a long-term facility in Pasadena, California.  Arrangements will be made so that he can receive outpatient physical therapy, because the hospital staff and doctors are highly optomistic that he can continue to make significant progress.  This is a huge victory because normally medi-cal doesn't pay for rehab like this.

Last night he told me that he wants mom to come see him.  I am praising God because he won't be moving until Monday, so I can arrange to bring our mom to the hospital to see him before he leaves for Pasadena. Once he makes more progress, there will be a possibility that we can find him a placement closer to family because his needs will not be as great as they are now.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man, availeth much."  What a mighty God we serve! Darlene
